Introduction to Rush

As a student at the University, there are a wealth of opportunities with which you may enrich your experience. As you seek your niche at UBC, we encourage you to consider the IFC fraternity system. Greek men are everywhere around Grounds—they are student leaders, athletes, and scholars. The very diversity of our extracurricular and academic involvement is a testament to the comprehensive nature of our system; within IFC fraternities, there is a place for every man at the University. Each of our 9 chapters are unique, and we urge you to explore them all.

Since the 1920's, UBC's fraternities have provided many young men with a unique experience as well as providing members with opportunites for growth and excellence in academic, athletics, leadership, philanthropy, and social arenas. Most importantly, fraternities provide an element of brotherhood and life-long bonds that cannot be found anywhere else on campus. The 9 fraternities at UBC also have inexpensive housing on campus available for members.

Fraternity men at UBC pride themselves on their extensive involvement throughout campus. In intramural sports, the Greek division rates the highest in terms of participation per member as well as ranking in the top two divisions for overall sports points. Fraternity men also show a lot of representation in all forms of student government, from the Thunderbird Athletic Council to the AMS Executive. Scholastically, international fraternity headquarters award scholarships that recognize fraternity members for contributions to their chapter and UBC as well as for academics.
